FLASHBACK: The United Nations: Our Children’s New Parents?

(Originally published in March of 2009)
Through its various agencies and treaties, the United Nations seeks to undermine individual, as well as national sovereignty. It has been almost 15 years since President Clinton signed on to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). The U.S. remains one of the last holdouts as the treaty lies dormant, yet to be ratified. The UNCRC grants children new civil, social, cultural and economic rights that could override parental decisions. Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), is pushing for a vote as there is a real sense that under an Obama presidency, the UNCRC could finally be ratified.

If the UNCRC is ratified, parents could be prohibited from homeschooling and spanking their children. It undermines parental authority and gives more power to the state to further dictate how children are raised. It grants children dangerous new rights thus encouraging more rebellious behavior. The truth is that in many cases, children do not have the wisdom and maturity to make sound decisions. The treaty also gives children the mechanism by which they could dispute any parental judgment. The UNCRC transfers more parental authority to the state while granting children radical new rights.

Under the UNCRC, an 18-member committee has been established to review children’s rights and any other disputes that might arise. In many cases, we are already bound by international treaties and the UNCRC gives unaccountable UN bureaucrats the power to make decisions concerning our children’s well-being. Parents are being demoted to simple caregivers, while the state assumes the role of the prime authoritative figure. The UNCRC is an assault on parental authority and is essentially a blank check for governmental interference in family matters. It is meant to further promote child autonomy and freedom from parental guidance.

In the U.S., homeschooling numbers continue to rise as a growing number of parents look to better control their child’s moral instruction. Under the UNCRC, homeschooling could be interpreted as a violation of a child’s well being. Some states have tried to ban and outlaw homeschooling and the UNCRC could make it a UN-sponsored activity. Public school education is designed to correct any perceived errors in rearing and home training. The ideology of globalism and world government is at the very core of the educational system. The UN seeks to undermine parental authority, traditional values and biblical principles. They wish to gain more control over our children’s upbringing and education.

That’s an important post, Pelle. It’s quite a double standard. -David

David,
There is a reason why the focus is on women and girls...
Girls become women, and women birth babies. This all has to do with population REDUCTION and control.

Women in impoverished countries are offered aid IF they get sterilized. And most people are impoverished because of forced industry.

Here is the real story behind women's lib. movement...just came across this myself:

Rockefeller Admitted Elite Goal Of Microchipped Population
http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/january2007/290107rockefellergoal.htm

Hollywood director Russo goes in-depth for first time on the astounding admissions of Nick Rockefeller, including his prediction of 9/11 and the war on terror hoax, the Rockefeller's creation of women's lib, and the elite's ultimate plan for world population reduction and a microchipped society

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
Monday, January 29, 2007
...

Rockefeller also told Russo that his family's foundation had created and bankrolled the women's liberation movement in order to destroy the family and that population reduction was a fundamental aim of the global elite.

...

source link:

The elite want women to work and succeed to become a tool for the state, instead of being a mother...this hurts boys and girls...destroys the family...perpetuates collective servitude.

Life is not honored...how can anyone claim they are standing up for men's or women's rights, when all the babies are stripped from the mother's care...so she can work and pay someone to care for her child? And most likely the work she(the mother) will be doing, serves to further enslave her children.

"On the one hand I think it’s great that they want to help women in all of these areas" ~Pelle

Women should not be fooled by this so called "help"!

Here are some facts for you and others so we will no longer be fooled by this organization's feminist/humanitarian front. The UN has over and over again had ties to child sex trafficking...

A high-ranking human rights worker with ties to the United Nations was nabbed at Kennedy Airport Tuesday with kiddie porn in his suitcase, officials said.

The agency came under fire in 2002 for turning a blind eye to wide-scale sexual abuse of West African refugee children by its own aid workers and peacekeepers.

UN workers from nine countries – including Britain and India – were accused of sexually exploiting children in dozens of refugee camps in war-torn Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia, the internal report found.

UNITED NATIONS — The United Nations is facing new allegations of sexual misconduct by U.N. personnel in Burundi, Haiti, Liberia and elsewhere, which is complicating the organization’s efforts to contain a sexual abuse scandal that has tarnished its Nobel Prize-winning peacekeepers in Congo.

2004 – 68 cases of alleged rape, prostitution and pedophilia by U.N. peacekeepers:

The 34-page report, which was obtained by The Washington Post accuses U.N. peacekeepers from Morocco, Pakistan and Nepal of seeking to obstruct U.N. efforts to investigate a sexual abuse scandal that has damaged the United Nations’ standing in Congo.
...
Special thanks to Ed Morrissey from Hotair.com for archiving some of this information.

2002 – Child sex abuse by UN workers:
A shocking report jointly issued on February 26th by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and Save The Children detailed evidence of widespread sexual exploitation of children at refugee camps in West Africa.

According to the report, aid workers from the UNHCR and a number of different NGOs have been sexually abusing children in camps in Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone, where refugees have fled to escape civil war.

According to Paul Nolan of Save The Children, “what emerged was a problem that was widespread, quite possibly endemic and which also included people who were actually in place to provide those refugee children with the care and protection they were entitled to…. It’s a problem we know has been around for some time. Nolan also admitted that the investigation had uncovered a “fairly widespread culture of exploitation” in which “a whole range of people in a position of authority and trust were abusing these positions. All in return for sexual favors.” Still more despicably, many aid worke rs apparently coerced sexual favors from children by withholding food and relief-agency services unless the children complied with their twisted demands.

UN Child Sex Slave Scandals Continue
Wave after wave of child abuse reports pour forward from all over the globe

Excerpt:

The UN is to investigate itself again after it was revealed by the London Telegraph today that more than twenty different cases of child sex slavery involving UN staff have been reported in southern Sudan. The Telegraph reports that it has learned of dozens of victims’ accounts claiming that some peacekeeping and civilian staff based in the town are regularly picking up young children in their UN vehicles and forcing them to have sex. The Telegraph states that it is thought that hundreds of children may have been abused. The UN has up to 10,000 military personnel in the region, of all nationalities and the allegations involve peacekeepers, military police and civilian staff. The Telegraph also states that the Sudanese government, which is deeply opposed to the deployment of UN troops to Darfur, has evidence of child sex slavery, including video footage of Bangladeshi UN workers allegedly having sex with three young girls.

"Well, the greatest trick that feminism ever pulled was convincing the world that men’s issues didn’t exist." ~Pelle

That is absurd, Pelle. I think men have not wanted to acknowledge that women's issues affect them. Take wages for example...when a women does not get paid the same as a man for the same job...this does hurt the man almost more than the woman...because the employer will often hire the cheap labor. This is the same trouble America is having with illegal migrants willing to work hard for meger wages.

Also, TPTB(the powers that be) know all about using divide and conquer tactics to control the masses...this is not a feminist agenda...it is a power game played out by elite puppet masters behind the scenes...like the UN!

NOT true!

The rabbit hole goes much deeper than you think ...The UN does indeed have a GLOBAL agenda! No sovereign individual will prevail...man or women.

Professor Walter Vieth demonstrates the UN's occult agenda, and how they intend to set up a global religion:

It does boggle the mind a little that these people are so oblivious to something so obvious. It is indeed a trick most artfully crafted that make seemingly intelligent people turn into one-sided ignorants.

Such is the world in which we live. Thanks for highlighting this important screwup on the part of the UN, Pelle

Despite the shortcomings you all have pointed out in this new UN body, I was encouraged that it at least brings the focus to more primitive parts of the world where the conditions of women are so much more cruelly tolerated by traditional societies as perfectly normal or at least inevitable. Of course it misses that men in these societies are just as cruelly treated by pre-modern life. It can make one grateful that we have our bigger and better advanced Western societal problems. Let's keep Voltaire's cry of "Remember the cruelties" in mind as we look "down" upon the 2/3 of humainity for whom the options we see for ourselves are unthinkable, literally.

Great article, Pelle, and loved the punch line:

<blockquote>
Well, the greatest trick that feminism ever pulled was convincing the world that men’s issues didn’t exist.
</blockquote>

It amazing to me the lengths to which some people will go, under the feminist banner, to deny the existence of serious men's issues. Michael Kimmel, for example.

I happened upon a review of Kimmel's dark masterpiece of this fallacy, guyland, that is well worth reading (the review, not the book):

That's an important post, Pelle. It's quite a double standard.

It's quite typical of postmodern/liberal thinking. For example, liberal activist groups are silent when Hamas fires thousands of rockets into Israel and suddenly erupt in fury when Israel strikes back. They are silent when Sadaam Hussein kills 50,000 of his citizens a year and erupt in fury when Western nations talk about deposing him by force. Silent when North Korea break a truce by sinking a South Korean ship and suddenly come alive when sanctions are imposed on North Korea.

In this case, a blind eye is turned to the plights of men, and all the focus is put on the trials of women, a few of which are imagined.

For example, boys are forced into sexual slavery in Afghanistan:

Men in the Russian army are also forced into prostitution:

Just a few minutes ago I read an article about a similar situation in Thailand:

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/08/world/asia/08thai.html

It wouldn't be so bad if the only result would be improving the lives of women. I don't have a problem with that, though it would of course be a good idea to place attention on both genders. The real trouble is that exclusive focus on women is often at the expense of boys or men or development/evolution in general.

It often results in the typical liberal performative contradiction: discrimination in the name of fighting discrimination, or gender bias in the name of promoting meritocracy, and when meritocracy gives way to gender bias development suffers.
